以前の私のバドミントンはすべて筋力に頼り、力いっぱいスマッシュし、全力でコートを動き回っていました。それで上手くいく時もあったのですが、全日本社会人という試合に出て、実業団の選手と対戦した時に、相手はスピードもあり、強いショットも打ってくるのですが、なぜか息切れすることもなく、淡々と試合を運ぶことができていました。こちらはものすごく息が切れているのに、です。
もちろんトレーニング量は違うと思っていましたが、そんなに差が出るとは思ってもみませんでした。中でも大きな「差」はなにか…。
その後、いろいろ観察してみるとボディーバランスのとり方にはっきりと違いがあると確信しました。ではボディーバランスはどううまくとるのか。
そこでであった書物が、高岡英夫氏の「センター・体軸・正中線」です。いろいろと書かれていましたが、目からうろこが落ちる思いをした考え方は、
「つま先で床を蹴る運動は筋肉が緊張するため、ボディーバランスを上手く感じることができず、修正に時間がかかるため実際に移動するスピードは遅くなってしまう。かかとの方に重心を置き、ボディーバランスをとると上半身も脱力ができ、移動などのパフォーマンスは上がる。」
ということです。バランスをとるために色々な方法がありますが、その中でも現在は「ゆる体操」を自分なりに実践しています。
